Mount Evans

On Monday (Labor Day), Meg, Kate, Ollie and I woke up before dawn, picked up some bagels and coffee, and headed out on the drive to Mount Evans. You can actually drive all the way up to Mount Evans – this is the highest paved road in North America. Some highlights of the trip:

Pee break/leg stretch at Echo Lake Park, just before entering the Mount Evans area:

The road up to the top was a little scary incredibly frightening, a thin two-lane road with no guard rails and sheer drops:

Ollie was slightly nervous:

Mike was more nervous (note the 10/2 death grip):

At the top, we saw lots of mountain goats:

After a short climb on foot, we reached the top!

  1. WOW! Beautiful! Is that a beard? You are becoming a mountain man. What did Ollie think of the goats?

    • It is beard, I guess. Ollie didn’t seem to mind the goats but we didn’t let him get too close. He didn’t really care for sharing the mountaintop with other dogs though. In the nice picture with the three of us and the mountains in the background he is growling at another dog that was just off camera.
